Taxonomy

All life on Earth can be classified in one of three DOMAINS:

- BACTERIA: prokaryotic (no nucleus), single-celled organisms

- ARCHAEBACTERIA: most primitive bacteria

- EUKARYA: cells contain a nucleus which houses the DNA

Domain Eukarya is divided into multiple KINGDOMS:

- Plantae (plants)

- Fungi (fungi - mushrooms, yeast, mold)

- Animalia (animals)

- Protista (algae, protozoans)

- Monera (bacteria)

BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE uses the GENUS and SPECIES to classify organisms.
